Madhuri Dixit Nene, who essays the role of a gutsy woman belonging to a village of dyers in Gulaab Gang will be seen doing some serious action in the film. Interestingly, this will be the first time that the actress will be seen in this avatar. She has a father and a brother but no romantic hero opposite her in the film, but she is quite happy being single.
Meanwhile, Juhi Chawla, who is known for her chirpy characters in films like Deewana Mastana, Yes Boss, Duplicate and in the recently-released Son Of Sardaar etc, will be seen in a completely different avatar in this writer turned- director Soumik Sen's venture. She plays a politician. An ambiguous character with grey shades - a first for the actress.
Though both the actresses have been part of the film industry for two decades, Gulaab Gang marks their first outing together. While the film's shoot is presently in progress at Film City studios, Mumbai, a major portion of the film was previously shot in Wai. This film also stars Tannishtha Chatterjee. Produced by Anubhav Sinha under his banner Benaras Mediaworks Pvt. Ltd., Gulaab Gang is slated to release in June.
