Madhuri Dixit, Shriram Nene's major plans for healthcare sector

Ever since Madhuri Dixit relocated to Mumbai with her family, the job that her husband Dr Sriram Nene will take up in the city has been a subject of intense speculation. The cardiologist, who earlier worked in Denver, USA, reportedly received offers from some of the city’s top hospitals —including Lilavati in Bandra and Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Andheri. But he did not take up any of the offers, further fueling rumours about his professional sphere.

However, Madhuri clears the air as she insists that her husband will continue to be involved in the healthcare sector and has no plans to leave. “There are a lot of things we are planning in the healthcare sector, but we aren’t going to talk about them yet. The plans are definitely in the making,” says Madhuri.

Last year, Dr Nene apparently visited a few patients, who had undergone heart surgeries, at KEM hospital in Parel. Soon after that, reports suggested that he may take up the honorary post at the BMC-run hospital. Besides Kokilaben and Lilavati, Dr Nene reportedly also received offers to head medical institutions like Harkisandas in Girgaon and Hiranandani in Powai. He is currently believed to be in the process of getting registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council.

Meanwhile, his better half is busy shooting for two films — Gulab Gang and Dedh Ishqiya. In addition, the actor has also launched an online dance academy called Dance With Madhuri. “I want to share my passion with every household. I want to make people dance and I want them to enjoy it,” says Madhuri. The academy allows enthusiasts to register using their Facebook, Gmail or Yahoo ids.
